May is National Masturbation Month here in the good ‘ol USA. And they say we’re a bunch of prudes! I only learned about this special month-long celebration several months ago. Where have I been all these years?! Let’s make up for lost time.
Here are some fun facts and links to keep you celebrating:
- Masturbation has a myriad of health benefits, including protection against prostate cancer and preventing cervical infections.
- National Masturbation Month started in 1995 by Good Vibrations to protest the firing of Surgeon General Jocelyn Elders, who suggested masturbation be a part of sex education.
- San Francisco has a Masturbate-a-Thon every year in May to raise money for charity and fight the stigma and shame associated with self-pleasure.
- Babeland has a “How To” section for all your sexytime needs, including how to find your G-Spot. You’re welcome! ; )
- Think you’re a Masturbation Pro? Take the quiz and find out.
- A look at pop culture’s most famous masturbation moments.
In semi-related news, May also happens to be host to many other “holidays”. For example, National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month. You know what’s a good way to prevent pregnancy? Masturbation instead of sex. And, don’t forget Mother’s Day is this Sunday May 13th. Maybe mom would like a vibrator to go along with her Fifty Shades of Grey series. Just sayin’. Lastly, May is also National Bike Month. I’ll just let your imagination run with that one.
