If you have not yet checked out Bedsider, you so should.  It’s a website dedicated to helping young women find the best birth control method for their particular needs.  It also helps women stay on by sending reminders via email or text as well as earning free rewards for sticking with birth control by becoming an Insider.

Bedsider also has videos. Lots of them!  Some are of men and women discussing their real experiences with different types of birth control methods. They also have a series of animated shorts that helps to debunk myths and make you laugh.  Bedsider highlights on humor by including PSAs that include uncomfortable but hilarious sexual mishaps.  Check out my personal favorite below.

Bedsider is a campaign by The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy and the Ad Council to address the growing number of unplanned pregnancy by young women.  According to data from the Guttmacher Institute, nearly one in ten unmarried women aged 20 – 29 in the United States has an unplanned pregnancy bringing the total to 1.3 million each year.  Although 84% of unmarried twentysomethings believe it is important to avoid pregnancy right now, less than half of women are using birth control consistently.  Clearly, this campaign is really needed.

I think Bedsider promises to be a great new tool for young adults’ sexual health.  It is an engaging and easy to navigate resource for making birth control easy.  So go ahead and give it a try!
